Position Overview and Responsibilities:
In carrying out the duties of this position, the incumbent is expected at all times to be aware of and abide by the Department’s Standards of Conduct, as well as all departmental and/or work unit rules, directives, policies, procedures, and/or general orders applicable to performing the duties of this position.
This is an advanced environmental consultant position. Utilizing knowledge of the Statues and Regulations governing the Resilient Florida Program this position will:
Use a full understanding and interpretation of the Resilient Florida Program statute to effectively evaluate and award projects and manage grants for the Program. Serves as a team lead, project, and environmental grant manager, and will directly support the Grant Management Section Program Administrator on Resilient Florida Program grant agreements for the Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection. A dminister, interpret, and explain policies, rules, regulations, and laws to requestors for project and grant management. Analyze internal processes and assist with implementing agency or program-wide procedural and policy changes to improve operations. Assist Program Administrator with the development and implementation of accountability and quality control procedures relative to section activities.
Acts as team leader for projects assigned. Coordinates directly with other DEP staff, federal agencies, and local authorities to facilitate successful completion of projects. Manages and reports on status of projects through all phases including completion. Manages the review, approvals, and processing of administrative and technical aspects of assigned projects. Conducts site inspections of projects, as required.
This position will assist Program Administrator in the development and implementation of statewide measures to assist communities in completing vulnerability assessments and implementing adaptation projects. Assists with preparation of planning documents and monitors expenditures of funds for the implementation of the resilience planning and adaptation activities which involve the collection, analysis, and development of data regarding the inter-relationship of vulnerable communities and systems.
Assists with the planning, organization, and coordination of Program stakeholder efforts and maintains cooperative working relationships among public and agency participants. Presents information for the agency at meetings or conventions to promote services, exchange ideas, and accomplish objectives, as required. The position also coordinates with the other sections and Program areas of the Department in pursuit of the overall mission to preserve, restore and protect the natural resources of Florida.
This position will supervise OPS positions within the Resilient Florida Program.
